The authors made a study on the bacteriological identification, Kanagawa phenomenon (hemolytic activity) on the modified Wagatsuma blood agar plates, and was carries out in order to evaluate the sensitivity of the different chemotherapeutic agents including Colistin to 12 strains of V. parahaemolyticus isolated from diarrheal in-patients in March 1974. Sensitivity test used with high concentration chemotherapeutic agents (Paper disk used; Eiken chemical Co., Tokyo, Japan).
The results obtained were as follows:
1) Two strains among 12 strains isolated were positive but 10 strains were negative in Kanagawa phenomenon.
2) Colistin (CL), chloramphenicol (CM), tetracycline (TC), and kanamycin (KM) were showed marked antimicrobial sensitivity against V. parahaemolyticus, but oleandomycin (OM), leucomycin (IM) were resistant.
